My studio is my home and my castle, no matter how big
it is and where it is located.

What I do in one sentence: I’m currently painting with a paper.

Why I didn’t get a proper job: Whatever proper is supposed to mean – for me being an artist is a proper job. Life without the possibility of making art would be unbearable to me.

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: I would simply like to have the possibility to work in peace and without permanent financial worries.

Why I do what I do: My motivation results primarily from the inner urge to deal with art. Only then do other factors come into play, for example – to mix my visions, wishes, inspirations etc. with each other, and to communicate them to the viewers and recipients.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Hieronymus Bosch, Peter Bruegel – for love of detail and enormous imagination. Artemisia Gentileschi – for being incredibly good and independent. René Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst – for the somnambulistic moment and best dreams. Hannah Höch – for the masterful linking of moods and fragments. R.B. Kitaj – for the virtuoso play with surfaces and colors. James Turrell – for so many new perspectives on light. Yayoi Kusama – for the spaces and the points and everything. Bjørn Melhus – for humor, poetry and great characters. Kirstine Roepstorff – for so much imagination and intuition. Franz Ackermann – for the power and brilliant colors. Cecily Brown – for so much color. Manfred Peckl – for diversity, honesty, uncompromising attitude. And so many more …

I am afraid of what’s going on in the world. Related to my family, friends and myself – sickness and dying. Even if it’s a part of the game.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: I prefer to be burned. What should be written on my urn? I leave that decision to those who stay.
