Lola Randl

My studio is my garden, where ideas grow through the decomposition of organic matter.

What I do in one sentence: Deconstruction, research, and reconstruction.

Why I didn’t get a “proper” job: Because there is not enough time from 9 to 5 to do what I have to do.

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: I would work on “The Imitation of Life”.

Why I do what I do: To avoid pain and depression.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Rimini Protokoll.

I am afraid of Death—not only my own, but mainly that of others.

I know that a piece is finished when I press the send button.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: Sonderbar irrten schmale Schatten auf ihren bleichen Wangen und auf ihrer Stirn.
