Johannes Mundinger

My studio is my Living room.

What I do in one sentence: I discover places and situations and compositions.

Why I didn’t get a proper job: As a young kid I thought goldsmith could be a quite decent job. You go to old castles, dig out the gold and create something new out of it. Forgot about it when I grew up, but what I kept is the transformation of material.

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: We are planning something with Sophia Hirsch, it’s about a tower and light and borders and changes, but I can’t tell more yet.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): The collective Nartur Kunstgruppe for their experimental ways to treat a painting. Julian Rosefeldt, after I saw a video with a great performance, just last week. The Peng Kollektiv or Zentrum für Politische Schönheit for how they use art to discuss social issues. Katharina Grosse for how she ignores size limits, Pio Rahner for how he sees objects. And then thousands of artists and friends, and artists that appear on my instagram feed everyday.

I am afraid of fear (in our society).

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: back in 5 min.
