Ornella Fieres

My studio is my lab.

What I do in one sentence: I analyze the transitions between the analog and digital space, as well as the transformation of data in the attempt to capture and transmit moments via recording technologies.

Why I didn’t get a proper job: I never consciously opted in to be an artist, it just came about.

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: Apart from a lifelong financial security to continue my life as an artist, I would like to have a team of coders that would write any kind of program that I could imagine.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Alexandra Crouwers, Zohar Fraiman, Alexandra Baumgartner…(because their works are so intelligently eerie and compelling).

I am afraid of always being afraid.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone:
“For billions of years since the outset of time
Every single one of your ancestors survived
Every single person on your mum and dad’s side
Successfully looked after and passed onto you life
What are the chances of that like?”
