Kaan Bulak

My studio is my instrument.

What I do in one sentence: I write music and sometimes perform it with my string ensemble.

Why I didn’t get a proper job: While others speculate on values, artists simply create it. Isn’t that proper enough?

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: A film that combines minutely planned long-shot scenes and bits from improvised scenes, chamber music and sound art, and the balance of visual, tonal and poetic aspects.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Kirill Petrenko because he will take the Berliner Philharmoniker to a whole new level of musical consciousness. Patricia Kopatchinskaja because she is incredibly unique. Cosmin TRG because he keeps on experimenting despite his success in techno. Robert Lippok because you have no idea what he might do next (even when on stage with him!). Ali M. Demirel because I admire the way he uses water movements in his visuals. Tarik Barri because he found a way to reduce life to its essence and make it synthetically visible.

I am afraid of nothing.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: Zurück zu den Sachen selbst.
