Amélie Blendl

My studio is my workspace (and the world is my oyster).

What I do in one sentence:
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains
– Whitney Houston

Why I didn’t get a proper job:
I, I will be King
And you, you will be Queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes just for one day
We can be us just for one day
– David Bowie

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: Colour each sand grain of Sahara desert pink and produce a super-slow-motion documentation on it.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Hito Steyerl, her brilliance and intelligence in dealing with the questions of the virtual and real world. Marichen Danz, her way of dealing with matters of corporeality and the perceptions, expectations, dreams and confusion surrounding it. Pola Sieverding, her observing, dissecting, yet kind view of personal and interpersonal struggles/battles are unnerving and consoling at the same time.

I am afraid of doing the “right” thing and other people who are doing the “right” thing.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone:
Es ist vorbei, bye, bye Junimond
Es ist vorbei,
Es ist vorbei, bye, bye
– Rio Reiser
