My studio is my castle, cave, hiding pace, birth place, dying place, eating pace, talking place, hearing place, smelling place, hearing place, dying place, reanimating place, asking place…
What I do in one sentence: hearing, thinking/feeling, answering.
Why I didn’t get a proper job: I have one!? 🙂
An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: a new wonderland.
Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): Francesco del Cairo. I’m interested in the light and shadow play in his paintings and mostly he tries to show expressions and moods that you don’t see often in this intensity in the time they where painted. On the other side they are very fragile and sensitive so the 2 extrem opposites are always reunited in his works that I appreciate a lot. I believe that only by watching into both parts of our souls we can find the true answers.
I am afraid of fear.
How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone:
possibiltiy1/drama: my body will be cremated and the ashes will be poured out with a helicopter over the Bosporus in Istanbul. Beside there should be the songs played loudly by Stella Haskil called Gül Bahar, Rosa Eskenazi, Ime Prezakias / Markos Vamvakaris, The Snorter and Ioannis Halkias, Minore tu Teke.
possibility2/ecological: I want that to be buried in a tree cemetery where every dead person is getting a tree in a special forest, if I can choose I want to be an olive tree.
For all options there should be a big meze table after with 12 meze foods, drinks, rembetiko sound and everything else that needed to have a good night, where everybody is invited to celebrate life.
Studio visit at Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul (2020), and at Villa Romana in Florence (2018).
