Marcela Moraga

My studio is my forest.

What I do in one sentence: I share a critical thought from experimentation, from the absurd, from the ephemeral, and from humour.

Why I didn’t get a proper job: I don’t want a proper job.

An artwork I dream of and I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: to build a community soil house in the garden of the Gropius Stadt.

Artists, I have on my watch list (and why): At the moment Maria Thereza Alves, Gülsün Karamustafa and Violeta Parra, because their works really inspire me. I like the poetry, power, and diversity of their works.

I am afraid of conservative and close-minded people having the power.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: I don’t want a tombstone, my ashes/body will be in the Pacific Ocean.
