Sina Fani Sani

My studio is my laboratory of perception. Not a comfort zone, but a thinking space where sound, doubt, structure, and desire collide.

What I do in one sentence: I compose music that confronts desire, illusion, and power without pretending to resolve them.

Why I didn’t get a proper 9–5 job: I don’t want to live for stability — I want to live for intensity, joy and freedom.

An artwork I would get accomplished if space, time and money were abundant: Make a music theater on other planets.

Why I do what I do: Music is the most precise medium I know for holding tension without turning it into moral simplification.

Artists I have on my watch list (and why): Abbas Kiarostami — for his radical reduction and the way he makes silence and absence structurally meaningful. Orson Welles — for his sense of scale, perspective, and the architecture of power within form. Giacomo Puccini — for his unapologetic emotional directness and instinct for dramatic timing. Gérard Grisey — for his treatment of sound as a physical phenomenon and time as a living material.

I am afraid of Mediocrity. And becoming comfortable to the point of artistic or physical softness.

I know that a piece is finished when I no longer need to explain it.

How I imagine my life in old age: I look forward to: a quieter but sharper life of thought and creation. Caution: intellectual rigidity.

What role does work play in my life as you grow older? Less output, more essence.

How I want to be buried resp. words I want to be written on my tombstone: Simple.
